The documentary was shown at the Burchfield Penney Art Center at SUNY Buffalo State College, on Thurs., April 22, 2021, and live streamed on Burchfield Penney’s Facebook page. This was the first event in over a year on the Burchfield Penny stage since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Produced by The Community Health Center of Buffalo, Inc. (CHCB, Inc.), in collaboration with the Buffalo Documentary Project (BDP), the 22-minute film documents CHCB, Inc.’s efforts as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) to provide continuous care to underserved patients of color in the face of inequity and systemic racism during the COVID-19 pandemic. The documentary also explores the impact of FQHCs and doctors in the “Fight”; the leadership role of women of color; and the challenges presented by healthcare disparities.
“We are extremely grateful to the Burchfield Penney Art Center for hosting our premiere, and to all the community members who have supported and viewed ‘Fight For Good’ either in-person or online,” said Dr. LaVonne Ansari, Chief Executive Officer, CHCB, Inc. “We hope our message of the vital importance of inclusive healthcare for all, especially in these most challenging times, resonates with those that view the film, and that ultimately, the film inspires them to join the fight for true healthcare connectivity and equality.”
